INCONSCIOUSNESS

INCONSCIOUSNESS- Abstract Paintings that charge and inspire the emotional and unconscious sides of the individuals mental [the drive of the race, The passion of Love, the fury in anger, the joy of happiness, the smile in a laugh, the smirk in a question] Lets stop taking God out of the equation and try to find him in the peculiar things and question our own connection to THE higher power.

INCONSCIOUSNESS- Abstract Paintings that charge and inspire the emotional and unconscious sides of the individuals mental.
[the drive of the race, The passion of Love, the fury in anger, the joy of happiness, the smile in a laugh, the smirk in a question]

This IS our definition of INCONSCIOUSNESS.

Some ponder why we dream that dream that was only once was shown to us in color. Where and when do we connect to our more spiritual selves that connect to God outside of prayer (of course).

Why does he only speak to us at certain times? Some call him the Holy Spirit others say its God himself. And even some will say that we are that next level.

Questions posted twice weekly until the opening.
Then these writings will be displayed during the show.

So I challenge you by asking a few simple questions:

Could God be found communicating with us through our dreams?

This is very Joseph Campbellish of me. I totally believe that heaven is right now. There is no place that you go to when you die. I believe in reincarnation and part of that is believing that the life I live is my heaven. I think we can create our own heaven and hell. So, I believe that God communicates to me through my dreams and when I'm awake. God gave me my essence and in dreaming that might be the purest conversation with God. Maybe not. God is not about dogma. Having a spiritual nature means embracing the growth that improves me as an individual, which will improve my environment and those around me...very heavenish. Dreams don't judge, they are adventurous and telling and sometimes frightening. Perhaps messages, but dwelling on when God is speaking to me (or through me) seems like I am wasting my time. Remember that joke about the drowning man who passed up rescue from a helicopter, a boat and a whale (or something like that)? When he saw God he asked him why he didn't save him and God said "I sent a whale (or something), a helicopter and a boat. What else did you expect me to do?" Did I just ramble myself in a circle? I don't know. I should probably edit this, but I'm not going to because I like wondering and thinking out loud.

Definitely. Probably because when we're dreaming (mankind the creatures we are) is the
only time we are quite enough, still enough for God to get a word in edgewise! It is our
most vulnerable and open state. And when we dare to act on or live out our dreams, we are
connecting with our truest self, truest sense and purpose/ability, our God-given, inspired
gift.

Yes, I think God communicates with us in dreams... and especially when we are grieving and thus emotions are raw and receptive. Mostly, I think God communicates with us through other people. I hope to be a good messenger and to listen closely for God in others.

God is in all of us. When we are dreaming our minds are open and receptive to all that is, we aren't blocking. We allow all thoughts and fears to surface. We hear the voice of God clearly then.

Dreams seem to be the easiest way for our unconscious (and perhaps spiritual) self to communicate with the conscious, mental self. Scientist might say the left and right brains are in better communication during dreams, but I don't know much about that.

My experience leads me to believe that the Great Spirit (God or whatever you want to name the Unknowable) communicates to me via some very mundane situations. But when I explore those mundane things from a symbolic perspective, I can have some interesting insights and/or new ways of seeing the situation(s) in my life.

Dreams, for me, are always symbolic and I treat them that way. First I write them down, then I title them, then I explore the symbols and their meanings. And somewhere along the line, a connection is made between the dream and something in my daily life. Thus I find dreams are like helpful messages from the spirit world (either my own spirit or Great Spirit or heaven knows what other spirit!)

Call it God (big G, little g), call it the subconscious, call it your brain on overtime--whatever it is, wherever it comes from there's no denying that our dreams are our most intimate space. I believe that dreams are a doorway into possibility--a place to be anyone, do anything without fear of judgement or harm. There is a spark of the Divine in each of us, and perhaps we listen best while still.

june writes -- you seem to be looking for something that you wish to call god or God within yourself. That word is so laden with centuries of meaning that I cannot deal with it. So I won't write about whether it is god or God or any kind of being other than your corporal self that speaks to you through your dreams. I see in your paintings that you are a complex, possibly confused person, so you probably have complex dreams that have many scenes and events. That is a part of who you are, and among the things you are is a person wishing to find out something about god/God. You've turned to the wide world asking for answers although you're asking if the answers are within yourself. They ARE within yourself, the answers are the totality of who you are and if you wish or need to believe there is an entity defined as god/God that is somehow outside yourself you will certainly find plenty of people eager to tell you what you think you want to hear. But why turn to strangers? Why not do some serious reading and hard thinking so that you will eventually arrive at an answer that comes from within -- within the waking and sleeping Chris? My challenge to you is to find your own definitions and answers. The wild world is always eager to tell us what to believe and is sometimes frightened when we think for ourselves. But nothing is true unless you have learned it to be true.
